Which Household "Gas Appliances" Require Flameout Protection Devices?

The following household "gas appliances" require flameout protection devices according to the terminology and classifications specified in GB 16410-2020 "Household Gas Cookers":

Gas appliances: A collective term for cooking utensils containing gas burners.

Gas appliances include gas stoves, gas ovens, gas broilers, gas oven stoves, gas broiling stoves, gas rice cookers, gas-electric dual-use appliances, integrated stoves, and gas roasting ovens.

Additionally, the classification of these cookers is clearly defined in the corresponding clauses as follows:

4.1 Types of Gas Appliances

4.1.1 They can be categorized by gas type as artificial gas appliances, natural gas appliances, and liquefied petroleum gas appliances.

4.1.2 They can be categorized by the number of burners as single-burner, double-burner, and multi-burner.

4.1.3 They can be categorized by function as gas stoves, gas oven stoves, gas broiling stoves, gas ovens, gas broilers, gas rice cookers, gas-electric dual-use appliances, integrated stoves, and gas roasting ovens.

4.1.4 They can be categorized by structural form as tabletop, built-in, freestanding, combination, and other forms.

Furthermore, according to the scope defined in GB 16410-2020 "Household Gas Cookers," the standards apply to household gas cookers using urban gas and household gas-electric dual-use cookers using urban gas and electricity. This includes:

a) Gas stoves with a single burner rated heat load ≤5.23 kW;

b) Gas ovens and gas broilers with a rated heat load ≤5.82 kW;

c) Gas oven stoves and gas broiling stoves that meet the requirements of a) and b);

d) Gas rice cookers with a maximum rice soaking capacity per cooking cycle ≤4L and a rated heat load ≤4.19 kW;

e) Gas-electric dual-use appliances with a rated heat load meeting the requirements of a), b), and d), and a total rated input power ≤5.00 kW;

f) Integrated stoves meeting the requirements of a) and e);

g) Outdoor gas roasting ovens supplied by liquefied petroleum gas storage tanks with a gas filling capacity not exceeding 15 kg and a total heat load not exceeding 35 kW for household use.

Moreover, GB 16410-2020 "Household Gas Cookers" clearly mandates the installation of flameout protection devices, which must meet the following criteria:

a) Valve opening time ≤10s;

b) Valve closing time ≤60s.

Extension: Since April 1, 2002, the mandatory provision 5.4.1 of GB 6932-2001 (now GB 6932-2015) "Household Gas Rapid Water Heaters" stipulates the requirement for flameout protection devices or reignition devices.

Additionally, as of March 1, 2019, according to clause 5.2.1.13 of GB 35848-2018 "Commercial Gas Appliances," commercial gas appliances are required to be equipped with flameout protection devices.

In summary, based on the specified terminology and classifications, whether it's double-burner, single-burner, or multi-burner; or gas ovens, broilers, integrated stoves; or tabletop, built-in, or other forms, all of these falls under the category of gas appliances according to GB 16410-2020, which has specific product quality requirements and mandates the installation of flameout protection devices.
